The poems in That Which Just Gets Tired and Then Kind cohabit intimately with a world that continues through exhaustion, overstimulation and the knowledge of its own temporary duration. Jennifer H. Fortin's is a poetry of shortfalls, unavailabilities, hungers and foraging to partially quiet those hungers. And Jennifer H. Fortin's is a poetry of excess, amplitude, buzzing and blooming. If the amplitude can't get to the hunger, that's not her problem. It's not her fault that the bell doesn't work and the armor works all too well. She's just revealing what we need and picking apart, with bone needles, why we don't get it.
